Southern African Nations Consider Legalized Elephant Hunts
Conservationists are outraged,
fearing protections will end
An elephant summit begins on Friday, May 3, 2019, to discuss a common policy for the four southern African nations where more than 60 percent of the world’s population of the pachyderms roam.

The five-day meeting in Botswana, culminating with a heads of state gathering, comes as the government is seeking to loosen its approach to conservation and allow hunting, a step it says will reduce conflict between farmers and wildlife. Critics say the proposal is aimed at winning rural votes in an election in October. Farmers complain that elephants eat their crops and are dangerous.
While elephants are threatened with extinction due to poaching in many African countries, Botswana, like its neighbor Zimbabwe, says there are so many that managing them is a challenge. Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi has invited leaders from Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia in a bid to agree on “concrete interventions.” Conservationists are skeptical.

Ivory stockpiles are also on the agenda. Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia want to sell their stockpiles and are lobbying the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species to allow them to do so. Sales of the valuable tusks would raise money for wildlife management.

Zimbabwe and South Africa were granted permission in 2008 for a once-off sale of their ivory to China, but evidence that ivory sales encourage demand and boost poaching means there’s now worldwide support for the international moratorium on trade. Today, most nations with elephants burn or crush their ivory. China banned the ivory trade last year.

Çağatay Ulusoy
vs.
Sonny Bill Williams
Tough call on this one.  6'4", 33-year-old Sonny Bill Williams is an All Blacks superstar rugby player and professional boxer.  He's a beast who deserves his own Netflix superhero franchise.  The video above is perhaps my favorite video of him, giving away his RWC medal to a kid who rushes him on the field after game.
Sonny Bill Williams also doesn't mind showing off his impressive physique.

And then there's 6'2", 29-year-old Çağatay Ulusoy who already has his own Netflix superhero franchise;  The Protector (see trailer below).
Turkey's Çağatay Ulusoy is shy about disrobing though there are glimpses of him shirtless in The Protector.  We suspect his Turkish heritage explains his more modest approach to superstardom.
We think Netflix has to sign Sonny Bill Williams to a superhero series and then we decide who does superhero better.  For now Sonny Bill Williams remains a real life, larger than life superhero.
Aside from the first episode of The Protector, Çağatay Ulusoy plays the part well.  We were not impressed with all the crying in Season 1, Episode 1, however.  We can even get past all the Turkish.  Its a difficult language to decipher.  We found watching The Protector best with the original Turkish language and some assistance from English subtitles.
For more real-life Sonny Bill Williams action, the binge-worthy All or Nothing:  New Zealand All Blacks is playing now on Amazon Prime.  There's plenty of Sonny Bill Williams action (trailer below) including his red card, 4 week suspension foul in great detail.
